Providing Care for LGBTQ+ Adolescents: SELF-PACED ONLINE

Approximately 9.5% of youth, ages 13-17 years old, identify as LGBTQ+ (Conron, 2020). It is becoming increasingly more common for providers of adolescents to seek information about how to best care for these youth. This 2-hour presentation will provide an overview of LGBTQ+ terminology, discuss the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth, and discuss best practices for care.

Course Objectives:

  1. 1.Learn basic terminology associated with LGBTQ+ identities. 
  2. 2.Develop knowledge of LGBTQ+ adolescents’ experiences in school systems, within healthcare systems, and within family and social systems. 
  3. 3.Identify what change efforts are and learn the harmful impacts of change efforts on wellbeing.
