After attending this brief overview of Motivational Interviewing, participants will be able to: Define Motivational Interviewing, Gain knowledge about Motivational Interviewing principles and counseling strategies, Define the Stages of Change, and Learn interaction techniques and MI traps to avoid.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define Motivational Interviewing (MI): Participants will be able to clearly explain the concept of Motivational Interviewing, including its purpose and key components.

  • Understand Motivational Interviewing Principles and Strategies: Participants will gain knowledge about the core principles of MI and the counseling strategies used to enhance client motivation and facilitate behavioral change.

  • Identify Stages of Change and MI Interaction Techniques: Participants will be able to define the Stages of Change model and recognize effective MI interaction techniques, while also understanding common MI traps to avoid in practice.
