Ethics in the Age of Telehealth LIVE WEBINAR

The current global pandemic has put the adaptation of technology in the behavioral health treatment into hyperdrive. Technology has brought about an era of incredible possibilities for enhancing that treatment. It has also brought with it a new era of ethical dilemmas that we did not face merely a decade ago. Social media and the internet have opened up our views of the world, and the world's view of us; telehealth has become a common practice in almost every avenue of health care; and the fatigue from the use of all of this technology can be felt by providers. This 6 hour training will examine how technology is impacting our work and how we can respond to the uncertain situations that result. We will examine ethical considerations to protect clients when providing services through the use of technology as well as the necessary attention to provider self care as an element of our ethical obligation to the practice.

Objectives:

  • List at least one positive and one negative factor that impact adoption of technology.
  • Describe how involvement with social media sites may impact clinician self-disclosure.
  • Understand the ethical implications of creating an on-line digital footprint
  • Cite at least 3 strategies to maintain good digital hygiene in the workplace and relate this to the ethical obligation of self care
  • Identify at least 3 best practices when utilizing tele-conferencing in service delivery
  • List at least 3 things that providers can do to ensure that they are engaging in ethical service delivery when utilizing tele-conferencing in service delivery
  • Identify at least 2 ethical implication of changes to regulations brought on by COVID-19.
Please Note: This webinar will be conducted using Zoom. This is an interactive presentation, and participants WILL have access to camera and microphone. Participants will be expected to participate live in the webinar and breakout sessions as if it were an in-person event.
