This video will focus on the roles/stereo types that influence men's behaviors from an early age. We will identify the gender norms and how these become a barrier for change with men who suffer from addiction and/or trauma. We will seek to focus on how to break the gender stereotypes and interventions that are useful in assisting men in reaching out for help and being able to identify their own patterns of behaviors and break free from repeated cycles of abuse and substance abuse. This course will be an educational, interactive session to encourage understanding and give necessary feedback to all attendees.

This workshop is designed for Community Health Workers (CHW) and Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS). In this workshop participants will be presented with an introduction of co-occurring disorders, the prevalence and demographics and the types of disorders that are more frequently co-occurring with substance use disorders. Participants will also learn about evidence-based practices in the treatment of co-occurring disorders.

This online training will cover gambling problems among US Military Veterans. A review of the current/relevant studies will be discussed. Several case vignettes of veterans with gambling disorder and other mental health disorders will be shared and discussed with the audience. This discussion will be guided by data collected from two VA studies. Discussion around ways of engaging veterans into care with problem gambling. We will review data on screening for at-risk/problem gambling from two VA studies. We will discuss strategies for effective screening when working with veterans and non-veterans.

In the last few years, more firefights and police officers have died by suicide than in the line of duty. Indeed, it is also believed that the numbers of reported suicides for first responders are usually underestimated. This workshop will explore the phenomenon of First Responder suicide including causes/conditions and learn what is being done to prevent suicide in this vulnerable population. Additionally, resources for peers, family members, and professionals will be investigated with attendees to help them take an active role in providing support to the First Responders in their lives.

The course focuses on the concepts taught and standards discussed in the initial Clinical Supervision 12-hour training. Supervisors will practice skills to help shape the delivery of high quality, effective clinical services to those seeking assistance for substance use disorders. This training is aimed at preparing clinical supervisors to observe job performance, provide feedback and coaching, prioritize learning needs, develop achievable learning objectives, and continue monitoring performance to assess effectiveness. The course is heavy on case scenarios and ethics. This course is requires the completion of a workbook which you will receive once you are enrolled. 

Audience: This 6-hour Clinical Supervision Refresher self-paced online course is intended for existing Clinical Supervisors in Nevada seeking to renew their license.
