This workshop will review the issues identified in the psychological literature regarding the challenges in treatment for the various generations including Boomers, GenX, Millennials, and GenZ. The workshop will explore the ways the generations differ, the subtleties of these differences, and frameworks to further awareness. Attendees will be given an overview of the personality disorders most frequently found in incarcerated populations along with some interventions to increase the clinicians ability to effectively manage their symptoms in the counseling settings.
By the end of this presentation, participants will:
Attendees will learn the differences and similarities between each generation and will understand the challenges they present in clinical settings and the frameworks that organize our understanding.
Attendees will learn some ways to connect with the different generations and overcome their own biases while debunking myths.
Attendees will learn the main types of personality disorders in incarcerated settings along with some ways to manage their behaviors and symptoms in counseling settings
