Religion, Spirituality and Mental Health: Research and Clinical Applications: SELF-PACED ONLINE

1 Jan 2023 - 31 Dec 2029

Description

Dr. Koenig will review definitions of religion and spirituality, and then begin by examining the role that religion/spirituality (R/S) plays in coping with trauma and stress. He will then examine research on the relationship between R/S and depression, suicide, anxiety, substance use disorders, psychological well-being, hope, optimism, marital satisfaction, delinquency/criminal activity, and social support. He will then present a model to help to explain how R/S influences mental and social health across the lifespan. Dr. Koenig will then review R/S-integrated psychotherapeutic interventions for depression, anxiety, "moral injury", and PTSD, while providing information on how to access a wide range of psychotherapeutic resources (therapist manuals and patient workbooks) for accomplishing the latter.
