Description

This training will explore 42 C.F.R. Part 2, HIPAA and state law related to privacy practices in Nevada related to Substance Use Services and how these laws impact Peer Support Specialist.  Best practices will also be discussed regardless of if a specific law impacts a Peer Support Specialist or not.  An overview of the Federal and State laws will be discussed and how to best respect and encourage privacy in practice. 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this presentation, participants will:

1. Explain the key provisions of 42 C.F.R. Part 2, HIPAA, and Nevada state laws related to privacy

2. Demonstrate best practices for maintaining client privacy and confidentiality

3. Identify common privacy-related challenges faced by Peer Support Specialists
