In addition, we will examine the fascinating concept of the gut-brain axis, understanding how the health of the gastrointestinal system influences mental health. By the end of this presentation participants should be able to:

  • Describe the connection between nutritional deficiencies and mental health.

  • Identify at least three crucial nutrients that play a significant role in mental health.

  • Recognize at least three signs of nutritional deficiencies that may manifest as mental health symptoms.

  • Describe the concept of the gut-brain axis and how a healthy gut contributes to better mental well-being.

  • Acquire practical strategies to incorporate nutrient-rich foods into treatment plans particularly when access is an issue
