Utilizing the ASAM 4th Edition to Determine Level of Care

This in-person training is designed for clinicians at OCHF Behavioral Health providing Level 1.0, 1.5 and 1.7 Outpatient treatment services for adult populations. The session will focus on applying the ASAM 4th Edition Level of care Assessment and Admission Criteria with a special emphasis on treatment services for individuals diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).

The training will provide foundational education on how to utilize the ASAM 4 Edition as a tool of utilization management assuring the client receives the clinical care based on their individual needs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the key component of Level of Care Assessment and Admission Criteria of the ASAM 4th Edition for Level 1.0, 1.5 and 1.7. Level 1 and 1.7. Level 1.0 and 1.7 will explore medication assisted treatment. 

  • Identify appropriate continuing care strategies to support individuals post-discharge in frontier and rural settings 

  • Be able to write clinical policies and procedures for the delivery of ASAM 4th Edition in clinical practice.
