Description

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria 4th Edition (Adult) is the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for assessment, placement, treatment planning, transition and continued service criteria for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Treatment providers and program evaluators use patient placement criteria to ensure that clients receive the appropriate level of care based on person-centered needs. This 1-hour virtual training session is a follow-up to the recent 3-hour Virtual Training in March of 2026.  This breakout session will focus on understanding and implementing the updated ASAM 4th Edition Transition and Continued Service in Practice.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this presentation, participants will:

• Understand and learn how to utilize updated Transitional and Continued Service Criteria in Practice. 

• Understand and learn how to efficiently and effectively utilize the updated Criteria to support ongoing reimbursement for client care with 3rd Party Payers.
