A certified peer recovery and support specialist supervisor (PRSS-S) is an individual who supervises PRSS workers with lived experience in recovery from substance use, problem gambling, mental health and/or other co-occurring challenges. As of August 1st, 2023, anyone supervising Peer workers needs to be certified in Nevada. Supervisors will develop an understanding of the role of peer workers, the responsibilities of a supervisor, and effective supervision strategies.
Learning Objectives:
1. Clearly define the role of a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS).
2. Gain familiarity with the Domains and Guiding Principles of Recovery.
3. Understand the process of becoming a Certified PRSS in Nevada.
4. Apply supervision techniques and strategies to effectively support peer-based recovery supports.
5. Acquire knowledge on the steps involved in becoming a Certified PRSS Supervisor.
