Session One of Navigating the Grief Experience: A Workshop Series LIVE WEBINAR
Session one of the navigating grief series combines current grief research and mindfulness practices to bring tools and strategies to the practitioner’s toolkit. Practitioners will be able to use this knowledge to better support themselves and their clients.
Learning Objectives:
- learn about research pertaining to meditation, mindfulness, and grief
- understand how mindful practices can support you personally and professionally
- explore ways to support the experience of grief through mindful practices
- practice mindful techniques
Presented by: Adrian Matt Zytkoskee, PhD and Theresa Skaar, PhD
Dr. Matt Zytkoskee has taught writing in university and community settings since 2007 and focuses his work upon narrative medicine and the use of writing as a therapeutic practice. Beyond his education in this area, as a widower, Dr. Matt has personally used these techniques to support and guide his own healing process.
Dr. Theresa B. Skaar is an educator and qualified mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) teacher. Theresa focuses on connection and mindfulness in her research, specifically exploring sensitive topics such as grief, aging, death, and dying. She is passionate about connection, and the experiences that we all share that can be difficult to talk about. Theresa is committed to bringing light to these challenging topics.
