Community Reinforcement Approach is one of the few evidence-based practices for stimulant use disorder recommended by SAMSHA

Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA): is a comprehensive behavioral program for treating substance-abuse problems. It is based on the belief that environmental contingencies can play a powerful role in encouraging or discouraging drinking or drug use. Consequently, it utilizes social, recreational, familial, and vocational reinforcers to assist consumers in the recovery process. Its goal is to make a sober lifestyle more rewarding than the use of substances. (12 CEUs)

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop participants will be able to:

1. Describe the research base and theoretical base for CRA.

2. Perform a Functional Analysis of Using Behavior and describe its utility in breaking addictive behavioral patterns.

3. Demonstrate the teaching of Communication Skills, the Happiness Scale and Problem Solving techniques to clients/consumers.

Consultation Calls: Six bi-monthly Zoom calls will be offered to address implementation issues, both administrative and clinical in nature between June and August every other Thursday at 1 PM PST!
