Learning Objectives:

By the end of this learning event participants will:

  1. Increase knowledge about:

    • The ACE study and its main discoveries

    • The effects of toxic stress on brain development, the body’s stress response systems, and a host of health outcomes later in life

    • Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), protective factors and systems that trumps ACEs and promote resilience

    • The 7 Cs Model of Resilience

    • Introduction to Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS), Compassion Fatigue and Burnout and its prevalence in community health

    • Identifying risk factors, vulnerabilities, and triggers for Secondary Traumatic Stress

    • Recognizing signs and symptoms of Secondary Traumatic Stress in oneself and others and what to do

  2. Learn and practice skills development for stress management, self-regulation, co-regulation, grounding, and self-care for helping professionals

  3. Lay the groundwork for a community of trauma-informed and resilience-oriented professionals

Presenter: Fabricia Prado, LCSW

Fabricia Prado is a trilingual (Portuguese/Spanish/English) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia. Fabricia has obtained certification as an ACE Interface Master Trainer through the National Hispanic and Latino PTTC and is working to increase community awareness of the prevalence of ACEs and its public health impact utilizing evidence-based approaches for building resiliency in the Hispanic and Latino organizations and communities. 

She obtained her master's degree in social work from Kennesaw State University in 2012 and finished bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás, PUC-GO, Brazil in 2007. Fabricia is a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional (CATP) and has received intensive training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and other trauma-sensitive approaches. 

Continuing Education Units: 3.5 CEUs

This training is approved for continuing education by the Nevada Certification Board for all certification types. This training fulfills the self-care burnout prevention (one hour) requirement for CHW II applicants and the trauma informed care requirement for birth doula certification applications.
