Academic Integrity Policy: Plagiarism
Expectations. Individuals completing courses offered through CASAT Learning are expected to do their own work. Copying someone else's work, or allowing your own work to be copied, is dishonest and unfair to other students who are striving to complete assignments and essays on their own.
Definition of Plagiarism. Plagiarism does not just mean copying someone else's work. "Ideas, processes, results or words" includes any material used in your assignments that were written by others. Copying brief phrases or sentences from books, articles, internet sites, documents or other sources without letting your reader know where they came from is a form of plagiarism.
Proper Citation. One must properly acknowledge your use of other people's words by placing them in quotation marks and citing all sources used in your paper. Even if paraphrasing someone else's ideas and they are not quoted directly, a source must still be acknowledged. Citations also should be given for little-known facts and statistics.
Use of AI Technologies. Students are expected to use AI technologies ethically, respecting copyright laws, privacy norms, and the intellectual property rights of others. AI should not be used to engage in plagiarism, cheating, or any form of dishonesty in academic work. AI work must not be submitted in the place of student work.
